To start printmaking first get a piece of linoleum to cave a design into. Also you will need a stop block which keeps he lino block from moving. Then get the carving tools, a pencil or something to trace with, and your drawn out design. Take your drawn design and make sure it is written in mirror form so when you print it, it will turn out the right way. Color in with pencil o the back of our paper so it will show up on the lino block. Put your design on top of your lino block and press hard down on your design. When your done tracing re-trace over your design on the lino block. To start carving what ever you carve out will be white. So carve out around your design if you want a white outline. If you want more than one color you will have to print and then carve out the parts you want to stay that color. Make sure when your carving to keep your hands behind your cutting tool. When you are finished carving you will need a brayer, and something to put your paint onto. Get a spoon and take out less than a spoon full of paint and put it onto your pan. Close the paint and take the brayer and roll over the paint and make sure it sounds sticky. Then roll over our piece of linoleum until it is all covered. Then take the lino block and print it on a piece of paper. Push down hard on it and repeat until you have multiple copies. When you are finished wash off your linoleum block and carve out the parts you want to stay the same color you just printed, if you are doing more than one color. Then line up your lino block with your new paint on it and print over your other color. When you are finished clean up and let it dry.
